New version of mobile application for IPTV/OTT

Smarty has acquired a new version of mobile application for smartphones and tablets based on iOS and Android. Sign up, subscription plan management and other OTT functions allow the application to be not just an addition to TV, but a self-sufficient service for watching channels, movies and shows.

Slider with an unlimited number of content feeds below is what now greets a user on the main page of the application. As in previous TV interfaces, the order and content of the feeds can be easily changed in the Smarty admin panel in the “Dashboard” section.

The main menu in the new version of the application is located at the bottom and is displayed by default in any section of the UI, except for the full-screen player. Thanks to this, a user can get to the main sections with one touch: TV, VOD, Archive and an auxiliary menu with account management, search and settings.

TV Section

Inside the TV section there is the list of channels with the ability to go into the program guide and change the display mode to mosaic.

VOD and Archive

The VOD and Archive sections virtually erase the line between a regular VOD catalog and archived channel recordings for a user by using attractive and complete meta-information about movies and TV shows. For example, an actor’s filmography and the list of similar movies display content from both sections in a single feed, creating the effect of an infinitely huge video catalog.

Fullscreen player

Special attention in the new version of the application was paid to the player – a screen lock function was added to protect against accidental clicks during watching, display of a list of episodes and convenient navigation between them, playback and rewind settings.

Account settings and management

As mentioned above, we cannot fail to note the presence of all the necessary billing scenarios within the application – registration by phone number, authorization with confirmation of phone number by SMS and by login and password, management of subscription plans and subscriber information, activation of promo codes, PIN code management, etc.

The new application also offers branding and flexible configuration, just like all other Smarty platform interfaces.
